  Day 01: Arrive in Orlando, FL

  Arrive at Orlando International Airport (MCO) or Sanford Airport (SFB) and proceed to your hotel. Welcome to the Theme Park capital of the world! Enjoy an evening at Downtown Disney, with over 170 shopping, dining and entertainment facilities, everyone will find something fun to do. Or experience the exitement of an interactive dinner show, such as Arabian Nights. You will have four nights to enjoy the magic of Orlando.

This Park is a showplace for the achievements of man, a tribute to innovation and imagination, and a fellowship of international culture. It consists of Future World and World Showcase. Future World features attractions such as Spaceship Earth, where you will experience a journey from the beginning of time to the electronic age. Ride Test Track, a high speed thriller that mimics actual vehicle testing conditions, sending you through breathtaking twists and turns.   SeaWorld® Orlando – SeaWorld Orlando is a premiere marine adventure park. It features thrilling rides and amazing shows where the animals are the stars. Your feet will dangle on Kraken, the only floorless rollercoaster in Orlando. Meet Shamu, the famous killer whale in the sensational show Believe. Get ready for the ultimate adventure on Journey to Atlantis! Travel on water and high-speed rails through special effects and a 60 foot drop! Check out the current spectacle at the Sea lion and Otter Stadium, where Clyde and Seamore will be into some mischief.   Leave the magic of Orlando this morning and head to the Kennedy Space Center. This is the site of the American Space Program and NASA’s headquarters. At the Visitor Center, experience interactive simulators, live shows and close encounters with massive rockets. Meet a real member of NASA’s Astronaut Corps in the Astronaut Encounter. Make sure to see one of the IMAX space films on gigantic five-story screens. After a day of space exploration, continue to Cocoa Beach. Tonight, visit the Cocoa Beach Pier which stretches 840 feet across the Atlantic Ocean. It features a variety of restaurants and gift shops. Play a game of miniature golf or shop at Ron Jon Surf Shop, and find everything you need for fun in the sun.

  Depart Cocoa Beach and drive south toward Fort Lauderdale, known as the “Venice of America” because of the intricate canal system. The entertainment district of Fort Lauderdale runs along the Riverfront and Las Olas Boulevard. Here you will find quaint shops, cafes and galleries on a waterfront setting. Visit the Museum of Discovery & Science to see sharks and the largest living Atlantic coral reef in captivity, hang out with bats, be charmed by a 12-foot snake, plus pet alligators, turtles and iguanas. Experience an IMAX film adventure on the five-story-high screen at the AutoNation IMAX Theater. Continue on to Miami Beach, home to world-renowned white sandy beaches and tropical blue waters, for a two-night stay.   Day 07: Miami Beach, FL

  Warm breezes, swaying palm trees, and the sound of the waves washing ashore act as a backdrop for pastel-colored, Art Deco buildings making Miami’s South Beach a stunning and often intoxicatingly beautiful place. It has been called the American Riviera by seasoned travelers, but there’s more to this city than fine white sand and turquoise waters. Consider a visit to Jungle Island, which is home to the “best trained bird show in the world.” Meet over 1100 colorful and exotic birds in this tropical landscape. At the Miami Seaquarium® see world-class marine life entertainment with eight different animal shows featuring dolphins and killer whales. The aquarium also offers educational presentations, including one where you can feed a sea lion! In the evening, visit Bayside Marketplace, it offers specialty shops and outdoor entertainment. Several types of tours also depart from here, including sightseeing cruises and party boats.

  Day 08: Miami Beach – Key West, FL (170mi/275km)
  Today, depart Miami Beach toward the tropical island paradise that is Key West. You will travel through the Florida Keys by way of the Overseas Highway, with its stunning vistas, via 42 bridges to the southernmost city of the continental United States, Key West. Consider stopping in Key Largo or Islamorada for a fantastic seafood lunch and shopping. You might want to stop briefly at Robbie’s, a well known local spot in Islamorada where you will be able to feed the insatiable tarpons. You will be amazed as these incredible “silver ghosts”, as they are called by the locals, leap out of the water with their mouth wide open to grab your fish. Continue onward and arrive in Key West for a two-night stay. Take a photo in front of the buoy marking the southernmost point in the U.S. Tonight, walk along Duval Street to enjoy the festive atmosphere and sample a local favorite food, conch fritters. No visit to Key West is complete without taking part in the Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square. Performers, vendors and artists line the water’s edge to bid the daylight farewell.

  Day 09: Key West, FL
  Today is yours to explore this tropical island paradise. There is always something happening in Key West. Take a ride on the Conch Train for sightseeing and stories of the island. Visit the Ernest Hemmingway Home and Museum. Here you will discover where the author wrote and lived for more than ten years. Venture outdoors to meet one of the sixty cats, including some that have six toes! Duval Street, lined on both sides with dozens of shops and restaurants, is the center of Key West’s life. Take a snorkel cruise or a deep-sea fishing trip for a different perspective of the island. You also have the choice of taking a ferry to the seven remote islands called the Dry Tortugas. Here you can visit historic Fort Jefferson, America’s largest costal fort. Snorkel and swim in Dry Tortugas National Park among tropical fish and living coral. If dry land suits you better, take a walk down Harborwalk and enjoy the ocean along with shops and restaurants. This evening, attend the Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square, there is always something different to see as it is not a rehearsed performance. Enjoy your last night in Key West at your leisure.

  Day 10: Key West – Everglades – Ft. Myers, FL (281mi/455km)
  Depart Key West today and drive through the Upper Keys. Key Largo, the largest of the Florida Keys, is the location of Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, America’s first underwater state park. Learn about this delicate and diverse ecosystem by visiting this park’s Coral Reef Theater. As you continue north, Florida’s natural side, the Everglades will start to appear. It is often called the “River of Grass” because of the slow moving waters and the abundance of saw grass. Unique plants and incredible wildlife inhabit the Everglades, including the famous Florida alligator. Visit Shark Valley and take an airboat ride to discover this splendor firsthand. Continue on your journey to Fort Myers for a three night stay.

  Day 11: Ft. Myers, FL

  Fort Myers and the surrounding islands boast some of Florida’s most natural and lovely beaches. They are a haven for birds, wildlife and the sea turtles that come here to nest. Participate in one of the many water activities. Enjoy deep water fishing or take a lesson on how to windsurf. If you would like to learn more about the natural surroundings, take a guided kayak tour that is sure to please everyone. Get intimate with the back bays and aquatic preserves that surround Fort Myers. To relax, look for some of the more than 400 species of seashells or build a sandcastle along the beautiful shores. After a day of playing on the beach, consider a dinner cruise along the Intracostal Waterway.

  Day 12: Ft. Myers, FL

  Today is yours to enjoy the fabulous beaches. Visit the historic winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Explore twenty acres of tropical gardens, the Edison laboratory, museum, inventions and exhibits. Consider a stop at the J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge. It is located on the neighboring barrier island of Sanibel. The refuge is part of the largest undeveloped mangrove ecosystem in the United States. It is world famous for its spectacular bird populations and home to over 50 types of reptiles. Enjoy a walk along the trails or rent a canoe for a closer view. Also available in this area is the Sanibel and Captiva Islands Dolphin Watch. Explore the wildlife in and around this picturesque area, which is home to birds, dolphins, manatees, otters and other local wildlife.

  
  Day 13: Ft. Myers – Sarasota, FL (92mi/149km)
  Depart Fort Myers and travel along the beautiful Gulf of Mexico to Sarasota. Sarasota is home to some of the most spectacular sandy beaches on the Gulf Coast. While it maintains its charm as a sleepy beach town, it boasts great family-oriented attractions. All sorts of water related activities are offered beach-side; canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, jet skiing and snorkeling are just but a few of them. Visit the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. This 20-acre waterfront property is comprised of the Cà d'Zan, a 20th century Venetian Gothic mansion, the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, two circus museums and a theater. Or, stop by Mote Marine Aquarium for a firsthand view of the indigenous sea life. Consider a visit to Sarasota Jungle Garden, a former banana plantation that was redesigned as a botanic and zoological garden. With over 70 exotic and native animals, and a variety of tropical plants and flowers from around the world, there is a lot to see and do. Among the favorite attractions is the flamingo lagoon, the butterfly museum and the children’s farm.

  Day 14: Sarasota, FL
  Today, consider a drive to Tampa to visit Busch Gardens Amusement Park. This family adventure park offers an array of fascinating attractions based on exotic encounters with the African continent.     Introductie: Florida, The Sunshine State, ligt aan de oostkust van de Verenigde Staten. De staat wordt omsloten door de Golf van Mexico en de Atlantische Oceaan. Het klimaat is aangenaam, hoewel het in de winter soms vrij koel kan zijn. Zoals in heel Amerika bevindt zich ook in Florida een aantal prachtige nationale parken. Natuurlijk kun je ook naar één van de attractieparken in Orlando gaan. Als je meer zin hebt in een luiervakantie, dan trek je naar de kust en breng je je dagen lekker door op het strand. Ook daar is genoeg te beleven. De steden Tallahassee, Orlando en Miami zijn de grootste in Florida, waarbij Miami vooral bekend is als overwinterlokatie voor zowel Amerikanen als Europeanen. In Miami wonen ook veel Cubaanse vluchtelingen.
    
    Taal: Engels. In winkeltjes in Miami en Miami Beach wordt veel Spaans gesproken en is de kennis van de Engelse taal soms beperkt.

    Tijdverschil: In Florida is het 6 uur vroeger dan in Nederland. Ingang zomer/wintertijd kan enkele weken verschillen ten opzichte van Nederland.

    Klimaat: Het klimaat kenmerkt zich door veel zon en een vrijwel altijd aanwezige verkoelende wind. Het regenseizoen is in de zomermaanden, het kan dan regelmatig kort maar hevig regenen, meestal gepaard met hevige onweer. Het luchtvochtigheidsgehalte is vrij hoog in deze periode, vooral in Zuid-Florida. In de periode van juni t/m oktober kunnen in het Caraïbisch gebied ontstane orkanen over het zuidoostelijke deel van Florida razen.

    Betaalmiddelen: Over het algemeen worden in restaurants, winkels en hotels creditcards geaccepteerd (American Express, Diners Club, Euro/Mastercard, Visa). In de meeste plaatsen zijn geldautomaten, waar de Europas en Giropas gebruikt kunnen worden. Bij sommige geldautomaten worden kosten van USD 2,- per opname berekend.     Grensdocumenten: Geldig paspoort en geldig retour- of doorreisticket zijn vereist. Een visum is alleen nodig voor een verblijf langer dan 90 dagen. Wel moeten bij binnenkomst aan de immigratiedienst persoonsgegevens worden verstrekt en moet een verklaring worden getekend, waarin onder andere is opgenomen dat men nooit veroordeeld is, geen ernstige besmettelijke ziekte heeft, niet aan ernstige geestesziekte lijdt en niet naar werk zal zoeken.
    
    Reisseizoen: Het hoogseizoen is van december t/m april. Amerikanen komen hiernaar toe om te overwinteren.
    
    Aanvlieghaven: Vanaf Schipol kan men rechtstreeks naar Tallahassee Municipal Airport vliegen. Ook kan men rechtstreeks vliegen op Orlando International Airport of Miami International Airport.
    
    Telefoon: Collect call mogelijk. Vanuit de vele telefooncellen is het zowel mogelijk om direct naar Nederland te bellen als via een "operator". Telefoonkaarten (pre-paid) zijn te koop bij hotels en supermarkten.
    
    Electriciteit: 110V. De stopcontacten zijn geschikt voor stekkers met platte polen en een verloopstekker is nodig.

    Toerisme: Florida heeft meerdere grote plaatsen, waaronder Orlando, Miami en Tallahassee, die allen een bezoek waard zijn. Om deze plaatsen heen tref je vele bezienswaardigheden, zoals nationale parken. veel pretparken en ook prachtige stranden. De bekendste natuurparken zijn het Everglades National Park en Big Cypress. In de Everglades wordt men per swampbuggy (een speciaal moerasvoertuig) of propellerboot vervoerd. Tijdens deze tochten heeft men goede kans om diverse vogels, krokodillen en manatees (zeekoeien) te zien.
