    Day 01: Arrive in Boston, MA

    Arrive at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and proceed to the hotel. Today you can visit the Boston harbor where you can enjoy The Boston HarborWalk. This walk is designed to connect the public to a clean and restored Boston Harbor. The HarborWalk links the water's edge to the city's open space system. Another option is visiting Faneuil Hall Marketplace comprised of a collection of boutiques, eateries and pushcart vendors housed in converted 18th century warehouses. Enjoy the street entertainers that frequently perform just outside.

    Day 02: Boston, MA

    Today is your to explore this historic town. Walk the Freedom Trail, one of Americas' first historic walking tours. This is the perfect introduction to Colonial and Revolutionary Boston. The walking tour takes visitors to 16 historical sites covering two and a half centuries of America's most significant past. Visit Paul Revere's House, the oldest building in downtown Boston. It served as the home of Paul Revere and his family from 1770 to 1800. Revere left here for his famous midnight ride. Walk through history as you visit each of Boston's sites. Visit the dock where it all began, the Boston Tea Party, the revolution that changed the world.

    Day 03: Boston – Salem – Gloucester – Kennebunkport, ME (127mi/206km)

    Today you will leave Boston and drive north toward Salem. The infamous Salem was home to the witch trials of 1692. A group of girls and women in Salem Village, who had been dabbling with the occult, began acting in a strange manner, a local doctor claimed they were afflicted by the “evil hand” setting the stage for the accusation of approximately 190 people for witchcraft. The trials ended after 15 months. Well aware of its infamy, Salem has a number of attractions centered on this uneasy time, including haunted tours and re-enactments. Continue the drive passing Gloucester, America’s oldest fishing port, toward Kennebunkport. The city of Kennebunkport is filled with historic and fun-filled attractions. Goose Rocks Beach, streatching for three miles is a great place for hiking and exploring.

    Day 04: Kennebunkport – Bar Harbor, ME (234mi/379km)

    This morning get to know Kennebunkport and all its natural wonders like Spouting Rock and Blowing Cave, which lie on the popular shore walk, Parson's Way. This port river also separates Kennebunkport's Dock Square from Kennebunk's Lower Village, both of which are filled with stores, restaurants and historic sites. Don’t forget to take a look at Walker's Point as well; it is located on a peninsula extending from Kennebunkport's Ocean Avenue into the Atlantic Ocean and is best known as the summer home of the Bush Presidential family. No access is available on the grounds, but it can be viewed from Ocean Avenue. In the afternoon continue to Bar Harbor. Located in Downeast, Bar Harbor was once considered a small fishing and ship-building community. Today, it is a favorite destination for people throughout the world. A visit to Bar Harbor affords the comforts and luxury of a classic retreat, but also offers spectacular beauty and natural wonder for those who would prefer to spend their time outdoors.

    Day 05: Bar Harbor, ME

    Today you can explore Bar Harbor and its surroundings at your leisure. Visit Mount Desert Oceanarium which includes a lobster museum, a marsh tour, and a lobster hatchery. For a touch of nature, visit Acadia National Park, New England's only national park; it offers 6000 acres of mountains, rugged coastline, islands, forests and lakes where you can hike, bike, canoe, fish, and explore this Park’s trails. For an alternative, rent a bicycle and explore the area as the locals do. Peddle alongside crystal-water lakes and rose-colored mountains. For a different view, take a bus or trolley tour and hear about the local history from well-versed local guides. Or, take an insightful and entertaining walking tour of downtown. If you rather explore Maine from the water side, paddle a canoe or kayak either on your own or in the company of a well-experienced guide.

    Today’s Optional Experience – Package Inclusions Lulu Lobster Boat Cruise (Experience Package A-1): Experience a sample of the life and work of the Maine Lobsterman. Watch as the capitain demonstrates how lobster traps are hauled while learning all the parts of a lobster trap and how the lobsters find their way to the bait inside. Learn all about the anatomy and life cycle of the Maine Lobster.

    Day 06: Bar Harbor – White Mountains, NH (219mi/355km)

    Leave Bar Harbor behind and continue on your journey through coastal Maine to Jackson. Today take a drive to the White Mountains National Forest. Better known as the Whites, in central New Hampshire, this is one of America's most popular public lands. The White Mountains rise in dramatic relief to the north of New Hampshire's central plateau. Take a train ridethrough this scenic area; choose one of the Valley routes to Conway or Bartlett, or the legendary Crawford Notch excursion. Experience the excitement of rail travel in the comfort of open or enclosed restored passenger cars.

    Day 07: White Mountains – Stowe, VT (1314mi/212km)

    As you leave the Jackson this morning, through the White Mountains, visit Franconia Notch State Park located in the heart of the White Mountain Region. A passenger cable car brings you to the top of Cannon Mountain in less than ten minutes. On a clear day you can see as far as the mountains of Canada. At the arrival point you will find spectacularly scenic walking paths and a 360-degree observation deck. You can also visit Mount Washington, the highest Mountain peak in the Northeast, during this day. Continue to the Stowe area in Vermont for an overnight stay.

    Day 08: Stowe – Moss Glenn Falls – Green Mountains, VT (78mi/126km)

    Leave the Stowe area and drive toward the Green Mountains. On your way, you will pass ‘Moss Glen Falls’. The Moss Glen Falls of Granville is a roadside attraction featured in just about every photographic portrait of Vermont ever published. You can enjoy a horseback ride through a gorgeous trail with thin streams of water that choose their own paths. The best viewpoint is along the boardwalk. You can also visit the Smugglers’ Notch State Park in the Green Mountains. This State park is great for hiking and offers several short, medium and long trails throughout the park varying in grades fo difficulty from easy to challenging . An overnight stay has been arranged in the Green Mountains area.

    Day 09: Green Mountains – The Berkshires, MA (68mi/110km)

    Today the tour continues toward The Berkshires in Massachusetts. The Berkshires are a beautiful place to visit any time of year. The Berkshires is known widely as a cultural hub of museums, historic sites, music, dance and art venues. In addition to arts and cultural venues, the region also offers outstanding opportunities for golfing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, canoeing and kayaking. All of these activities take place amid spectacularly scenic rural hills, dotted with mountain streams and lakes.

    Day 10: The Berkshires – Newport, RI (187mi/303km)

    Leave the Berkshires and drive to Newport known for its numerous Gilded Age Mansions. Home to spectacular coastal scenery, awe-inspiring architecture, a thriving waterfront downtown, and welcoming hospitality, Newport is considered by many to be a shining gem in the coastal crown of New England. Take a walk through tennis history and explore six acres of historic grounds at the Tennis Hall of Fame. This world-class museum showcases the sport’s pioneers and champions. Enjoy the peaceful waters of Narragansett Bay aboard the Newport Dinner Train. This classic red train's 22-mile journey will send you back in time when dining aboard a luxury train was a statement of elegance and privilege. Dine by candlelight on these restored vintage rail cars with red velvet curtains, white tablecloths, crystal, and fine china and silver. Or, visit Bannister’s Wharf, what used to be the center of Newport's commercial seaport in the colonial days, is now the hub of Newport's harbor-side shopping and dining. Here you can find eclectic boutiques and numerous restaurants from sophisticated and casual.

    Day 11: Newport – Hyannis – Cape Cod/Falmouth, MA (97mi/157km)

    Depart Newport and drive toward Cape Cod. People come to Cape Cod to feel inspired, to walk the pristine beaches, to revel in the arts and culture, to reclaim childhood memories of seashells, sandcastles and salt water taffy, to indulge in the freshest fried clams, play 18 holes on the lush fairways, and savor the breathtaking scenic beauty. Famous in Cape Cod is the great Outer Beach described by Thoreau in the 1800s. It is comprised of forty miles of pristine sandy beach, marshes, ponds, and uplands that support diverse species. Lighthouses, cultural landscapes, and wild cranberry bogs offer a glimpse of Cape Cod’s past and continuing ways of life. Swimming in the beaches, walking and biking trails are possible activities here. Hyannis Harbor is also bustling with activity, fishing and sailing charters, and the Kennedy Monument are found here. Main Street is home to shops, restaurants, and a few nightclubs. There is also Hyannis Port, home to the Kennedy Compound, a quiet & residential part of Hyannis. Deluxe cattegory accommodations are located in Pleasant Bay, Chatham which is approximately 38 miles from Falmouth.

    Day 12: Falmouth, MA

    Today you can make a decision between visiting Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket Island, both islands are next to Cape Cod and reachable by Ferry from Falmouth. Both islands are full of charm and typical New England atmosphere. The best way to see the prettiest spots on the islands are on foot, bicycle or a combination of the two. Go horseback riding on the beach at sunset. Look for sunken ships and lost schooners on a scuba excursion or ride the surf on a boogie board. Whether you want to cast your line for a feisty bluefish or soar above the Island in a biplane, you will find an activity that suits you within these islands.

    Day 13: Falmouth – Plymouth – Boston International Airport, MA (75mi/122km)

    On your last day of the tour you may want to visit historical Plymouth Rock on your way to the airport in Boston. Pilgrim Memorial State Park is at once the smallest and the most visited parks in the Massachusetts park system. Housed at this park are Plymouth Rock, symbolizing the location where the Pilgrims disembarked from the Mayflower when they first landed on what was to become American soil; and the Mayflower II, a replica of the ship that first brought settlers to New England. Continue at your leisure to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

      Introductie: De Verenigde Staten van Amerika (VS, USA) is een Noord-Amerikaans land, een federatie van ruim 50 staten. Dit land is ongeveer 225 keer Nederland en heeft ca 250 miljoen inwoners. Het overgrote deel van de bevolking is van Europese afkomst. Amerika is een land met veel afwisseling, zowel klimatologisch als landschappelijk. Enkele interessante bezienswaardigheden zijn o.a. New York met het vrijheidsbeeld en het Empire State Building, de Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park, de Everglades in Florida en de Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Het land van de onbegrensde mogelijkheden. Dat geldt zeker voor de toerist die Amerika bezoekt. Er is enorm veel te zien en van alles te doen. Zo heeft het oosten veel te bieden op het gebied van steden, cultuur en geschiedenis en staat het westen bekend om zijn prachtige natuur.

      Hoofdstad: Washington.

      Tijdverschil: Tijdens je reis zul je te maken krijgen met tijdsverschillen. Amerika heeft verschillende tijdzones. Het is er vroeger dan in Nederland. Enkele voorbeelden geldig in het winterseizoen:
      Chicago 7 uur vroeger, Denver 8 uur vroeger, Honolulu 12 uur, vroeger, Las Vegas 9 uur vroeger, Los Angeles 9 uur vroeger, Miami 6 uur vroeger, Phoenix 8 uur vroeger, New York 6 uur vroeger, San Francisco 9 uur vroeger.

      Klimaat: Er zijn in de Verenigde Staten extreme klimatologische verschillen. Van een poolklimaat in het noorden van Alaska tot een (sub)tropisch klimaat op Hawaï en in Florida. Ook de neerslag is niet gelijk verdeeld. Er zijn relatief natte gebieden, zoals het noordwesten en het zuidoosten, terwijl de zuidoostelijke staten voor grote delen uit woestijn bestaan. Daarnaast heerst er in de Rocky's een duidelijk hooggebergte klimaat.

      Munteenheid: Amerikaanse dollar (USD)


      Betaalmiddelen: Er zijn veel geldautomaten en bij de meeste kan men met een Europas en Giropas geld opnemen. Bij sommige worden kosten van gem. USD 2 per opname berekend. Een creditcard is vrijwel onmisbaar, alhoewel het gebruik van contant geld zeker niet verdwenen is. Een alternatief zijn Travellers cheques, waarmee ook kan worden betaald. Travellers cheques worden overal geaccepteerd en zijn overal in te wisselen voor contant geld. De Amerikanen hebben een groot vertrouwen in plastic geld en het bespoedigd een hoop transacties als je in het bezit bent van een flexibel friend.

      Prijsniveau: Het gemiddelde prijsniveau ligt hoger dan in Nederland.

      Gezondheid: Geen medicatie vereist of aanbevolen.

      World Ticket Center is geen medische instelling en heeft derhalve geen bevoegdheden op dit gebied. De gezondheidsadviezen per land wijzigen regelmatig en wij adviseren altijd contact op te nemen met het Landelijk Coördinatiecentrum Reizigersadvisering. Het LCR geeft de richtlijnen uit die worden gebruikt door GGD's en huisartsen.

      Grensdocumenten: Vereist zijn een geldig paspoort en een retour- of doorreisticket. Een visum is alleen nodig voor een verblijf langer dan 90 dagen. Wel moeten bij binnenkomst aan de immigratiedienst persoonsgegevens worden verstrekt en moet een verklaring worden getekend, waarin o.a. is opgenomen dat men nooit veroordeeld is, geen ernstige besmettelijke ziekte heeft, niet aan ernstige geestesziekte lijdt en niet naar werk zal zoeken.

      Reisseizoen: Door de klimatologische verschillen is dit land het hele jaar door geschikt voor een vakantie.

      Aanvlieghaven: De grootste luchthaven van het land is JFK bij New York, maar ook de luchthavens van Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, San Francisco, Miami, Washington en Seattle nemen een groot deel van de reizigers voor hun rekening.

      Telefoon: Vanuit de vele telefooncellen is het zowel mogelijk om direct naar Nederland te bellen als d.m.v. een "operator". Een collect call is eenvoudig te regelen, evenals een (evt. collect) "person to person call", waarbij alleen betaald hoeft te worden als de juiste persoon aan de telefoon kan komen. Telefoonkaarten (pre-paid) zijn te koop bij o.a. hotels en supermarkten. Het aantal bel-minuten varieert per type kaart.

      Electriciteit: De netspanning is 110-120V.

      Toerisme: Naast de bekende en belangrijke steden zoals bijvoorbeeld: Washington, Arizona, Utah, Colarado, Florida, etc. etc zijn de nationale parken fantastische plekken om te bezoeken in Amerika.

      Helaas zijn niet alle National Parks gratis, vaak moet je betalen voor toegang. Rond de $10-$25 is vrij normaal. Daar staat wel een unieke ervaring tegenover, want Amerikaanse Nationale Parken kunnen bijzonder mooi zijn. Als je meerdere National Parks gaat bezoeken, is de National Park Pass of Golden Eagle Pass misschien iets voor jou. De National Park Pass kost $80 en is geldig in alle National Parks; de Golden Eagle Pass kost $15 extra en is daarnaast ook geldig in andere parken. Bij sommige grote parken scheelt de pas zelfs tijd, omdat je meteen langs een 'snelloket' mag. Beide passen zijn in de VS te verkrijgen.
